The new headquarters will manage neighbouring subsidiaries in ASEAN countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam. The company will have 30 people located in the Singapore centre.

Pilz said that it hopes to leverage on Singapore’s position as the advanced manufacturing hub in Asia to embark on Industry 4.0-related engineering development work. Some of these focus areas include human collaborative robots, flexible automation and 3D zone monitoring, which combines intelligent sensor technology with effective control systems.

The Asian market for safety & security is booming, according to the company and an annual growth of 8 percent is expected.

This move is also a reaction to the rising demand for consultancy services for safety issues and engineering solutions, said the firm in a press release. As the first training centre in the region, it will train customers here in how to achieve high safety standards.

“Wherever automation happens, the safety standards also rise. This elevates safety to a corporate value: companies can secure competitive advantages through the quality of their safety standards, and thus set themselves apart,” said Pilz’s president and CEO Renate Pilz.
