Schuler Receives Press Order From Hisaka

Schuler has just announced that they have received an order for a press facility by Japanese heat exchangers manufacturers Hisaka, for their production site in Malaysia this year. The 15,000 tonne hydraulic press is expected to begin operations by the middle of next year.

The press will come with Schuler’s multi-cylinder technology, and allow the Japanese manufacturer to produce quality heat exchanger plates from stainless steel or titanium. An industrial heat exchanger is made up of 500 to 1,000 embossed plates, of which can reach a size of up to several square metres.

To form the plates, the company developed the multi-cylinder technology that combines several short-stroke pistons in a single cylinder plate. The size of the heat exchanger plate will then influence which hydraulic circuits that can be selected with varying pressures to be generated, and these permit uniform distribution of the press force across the entire surface of the plate.

With a compact design and equipped with a crossbar vacuum-cup feed system from Schuler for automatic destacking and feeding of the plates, the press will allow the Japanese manufacturer to produce accurate and uniform embossing depths and minimum tolerances, increasing the quality of plates.
