Obama To Combat Steel Dumping

The China steel dumping crisis has prompted president Obama to speak up against it.

Following concerns raised by four of the largest stainless steel producers in US, Barack Obama has pledged to ensure an equal playing field among both imports and homegrown products from the steel industry.

The steel dumping practices adopted by China has resulted in a variety of steel companies collapsing from the inability to compete financially.

Despite the president’s firm stance on the limitations on imports, he made it clear that Chinese imports will not be banned. “What is possible is making sure that everyone is playing on a level playing field and the people are operating fairly,” the president said. “and, frankly, I don’t think it is any secret that China in the past has not acted fairly.”
