Argentinian president Mauricio Macri became every miner’s favourite South American president when his government got rid of the five percent taxation on mining and energy corporations.
The new president, elected in December 2015 on a platform of attracting more foreign investors, repealed the previous administration’s taxation, as well as liberalise the economy. Other measures proposed by the government includes relaxing exchange controls, letting the Peso float and eliminating export taxes on mining products.
