Ponsse Wins 2015 Swedish Steel Prize Award

It was a fierce fight, but Ponsse ended up taking home the prestigious Swedish Steel Prize on November 20, 2015, fending off strong challenges from Terex Cranes Germany, Fácil System from Brazil and South Africa’s Milotek.

The Finnish company triumphed in large part due to their ingenuity in updating the forestry machine, which had not undergone major changes since the 80’s. Their product, the Ponsse Scorpion, features a symmetrical crane boom that allows the operator to sit in the center point of all movements. This offers the operator total visibility, and the ability to work both comfortably and efficiently.

The Scorpion also provides easy to control mechanics as well as increased durability, due to it’s innovative use of Strenx 700 MC Plus and Hardox 500, which ultimately led to longer maintenance intervals.

The Ponsse Scorpion has been in production since 2014 and there are approximately 250 machines in the field.
