Boeing has recently announced the intent of Taiwanese airliner EVA Airways to buy up to 24 of the latest 787-10 Dreamliners and two additional 777-300ER (extended range) jetliners. The purchase is worth more than US$8 billion.

The Taiwanese airliner is said to be progressively modernising its long-haul fleet to replace ageing aircraft, and the new planes will serve to expand the company’s reach into new markets as well such as in Southeast AAsia, Oceania and North America.

The 787-10 Dreamliner is the third and latest member of the 787 family, providing greater passenger and cargo capacity and is said to have improved fuel efficiency and operating economics.

On the intent to purchase, Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and chief executive officer Ray Conner commented: “We look forward to welcoming EVA Airways as Boeing’s newest member of the 787-10 Dreamliner launch customer group.” The company is also honoured that the Taiwanese airliner is going to introduce the new Boeing widebody airplanes into their growing fleet, he added.
