The desktop laser marker EasyMark is now optionally available with a full-fledged CAD suite, says developer Rofin. The CAD extension processes the CAD objects and includes the assigned laser parameter sets. In this way, repetition and post-parameterising of the marking data after layout changes are almost completely eliminated.

To address the issue of requiring multiple, dedicated cutters in the toolchanger of a machining centre to create different component chamfers, Sandvik Coromant has developed the CoroMill 495, a universal tool which ensures machine shops only require a single chamfer cutter to perform various chamfering operations. The manufacturer says the cutters not only create extra space in the toolchanger but minimise tool inventory and costs. 

Most engineering components require at least one chamfer, and because the majority of modern machine shops run small batches in many different materials, the potential for excessive toolchanging and extended set-up times is vast. With it, the same tool can undertake a wide variety of chamfering operations, reducing downtime and maximising machine utilisation. The tool features indexable inserts with four cutting edges, and cutter bodies with a high number of inserts in relation to body size. 

As well as conventional topside chamfers, the tool can be used to pass through a bore and chamfer the underside of components. This cutter can also be used to perform weld preparations, deburring operations and even face milling if required. 

Available cutter diameters include 12 to 25 mm and 40 to 63 mm to create 15°, 30°, 45° and 60° chamfer angles using coupling types such as cylindrical shank, Coromant EH and Coromant Capto, while a 0.5-1" imperial version takes advantage of a Weldon coupling. 

Both GC1030 (-PM geometry) and GC1040 (-MM geometry) grades are available to ensure successful chamfering in a multitude of different materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium and heat resistant super alloys.

Low-maintenance, production-oriented design features like easy loading tools, barcode reader etc., and new one-button CT automation functionality make this system an efficient tool for industrial quality assurance. 

The system offers flexibility and maximum penetration power for high absorbing samples at 450 kV. It is available with a line-detector for high quality fan beam CT with reduced artifacts caused by scattered radiation; or with a digital detector array for high throughput cone beam CT; or a combination of both detectors.

Schuler's Crossbar Robots are used to transfer parts from one stage of a press line to the next. They can remove up to four parts at a time from the die, change their orientation where necessary, and place them directly into the next die. 

The manufacturer says the robot is suitable for automating conventional mechanical and hydraulic press lines - also for loading and unloading - as well as for retrofitting existing lines. 

A modified drive system with two motors and transmission has boosted the robot's speed - and halved its weight: making the 'artificial arm' some 20 percent more dynamic. The maximum load (including tooling), however, has remained unchanged at 90 kilograms. 

The robot is based on a six-axis industrial robot, to which Schuler's engineers have added a further two axes. These represent the hand of the robot arm and the horizontal drive, thus increasing maneuverability, flexibility and output.
